Art Speaks: A COVID Response

After over a year and a half without stepping foot inside a museum (literally!), I was over the moon when I decided to take the leap and make my way back. This time, I wanted to check out the Newark Art Museum. As a self proclaimed art and culture nerd, excitement was indeed an understatement. After doing some research and checking out the Museum’s health … Continue reading Art Speaks: A COVID Response

Viv Dishes: April week 1

“Happiness is not something that should be chased, it’s something that should be experienced no matter where you are in your journey.” @ArielLopez Some food for thought as we look into the week ahead! Speaking of happiness, The 2020 World Happiness Report has been released. Want to guess which country ranks number one?! Apparently, Finland takes the lead. Congrats to all of my Finns out … Continue reading Viv Dishes: April week 1

Viv Dishes: Week 3

Ok, so every time I any hear news about Bob Ross, I get really excited and nostalgic. Back in the 90’s, he inspired me and probably every other kid (and adult) in this country to take out their brushes to paint away! His chilled vibes, soothing voice, love for little nature critters and ease with the brush, was truly hypnotizing. Did I forget to mention … Continue reading Viv Dishes: Week 3

Viv Dishes: Week 2

On this week’s Viv Dishes, I’ve highlighted a few a somber moments that deserve our attention and few other interesting occurrences. Enjoy! Earlier this week, we learned of the horrific explosion in Lebanon’s capital, Beirut. With over 150 deaths, 5,000 injuries (and counting) and the city left in shambles, the recovery will be slow. As a result, thousands of its citizens have been left homeless … Continue reading Viv Dishes: Week 2

To kick off Viv Dishes, below are my picks for this week: I’ll admit to having parted ways with reality tv for a while now. But, there was one show which always seemed to catch my attention – What Not to Wear with Stacy London … Continue reading Viv Dishes: Week 1

Pa’ Colombia

By definition a beautiful, picturesque country with breathtaking landscapes, tropical temperatures, inhabited by friendly and vibrant people (many whom prefer to live life on the edge) or at least one would have to assume with the endless stream of motorcycles gliding through the country’s extensive roads! Indeed, Colombia has resurfaced in recent months, most notably after it’s comeback performance this past World Cup (kudos to … Continue reading Pa’ Colombia

Museum in Palestine?!

Days after Google’s inconspicuous move of modifying google.ps from “Palestinian Territories” to simply “Palestine,” it’s encouraging to read up on other progressive movements. The construction of a new Palestinian Museum was recently announced by its director, Jack Persekian. Scheduled to open for 2014 in the town of Birzeit, north of Ramallah in the West Bank. Despite the evident turmoil in a region of unsettled conflicts … Continue reading Museum in Palestine?!

I’m an Art Museum – Come Visit Me!

We are living in some fast lane times where today’s ‘big thing” can be tomorrow’s big flop. As our attention span continues to be diverted from one place to another (literally within mili-seconds), both commercial and private sectors are trying to reel in their target audience by any possible means. Non-profits, particularly Art museums are becoming more and more aware of this situation in regards … Continue reading I’m an Art Museum – Come Visit Me!

Viva Pompeii

Ahh…Pompeii, there’s something extremely captivating about this city.  Lets see a massive explosive volcano referred to as Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD and covered the entire city in molten lava.  Then nearly 2,000 years after this calamitous day, Pompeii still stands.  It is truly an incredible archaeological goldmine!  Somewhere between the ash and hardened lava, we practically get an unblemished city.  I definitely credit … Continue reading Viva Pompeii
